Explanation of my Final

My idea is about trying to push my own boundaries and breaking free of my comfort zone. In my space, I show a person trying to push through plastic wrap, and on it’s way leaves a path of destruction. I tried to give my plastic an iridescent effect by showing the way the material can reflect different colours. In Greek mythology, the Olive Tree represents success and creativity, which is why I have my person reaching for it.

Improved designs after feedback

After the feedback session I added the glass doors into my section, plan and elevation. I also added a bluey purpley tinge to my sketch.

Brainstorm of possible room ideas

Bubble Wrap room: bubble wrap is very symbolic to me as it represents my childhood growing up in a tight knit, sheltered community. I have never properly been exposed to the harshness of the real world.

A sihuette of a person (myself) trying to push through plastic film. The purpose of this space is to represent the feeling of almost successfully reaching outside of your comfort zone as well as a representation of the feeling of desperateness as well as hopefulness to reach personal excellence.

Practices of Plans, Elevations and Sections + Experiments

I did an experiment with folding paper and seeing how folds and creases create different tones of shadows. I may be able to incorporate this into my shed by using some kind of folding material

I did some experimenting with bubble wrap and I liked that way that they created light undefined shadows around each bubble when light was shown on them. I like the texture of them because they are squishy

In class we did and experiment with paper where we were told to create the atmosphere or the feeling of what we think our our room will be through the folds in the paper. Meg gave me the idea of pressing my hand against the paper. I like the shadows that the creases and folds create.

I cropped a few of my folding picture and adding some lighting effects on photoshop to give a iridescent effect
